Brown | RISD Dual Degree Program

Tuition and Aid

All tuition and financial aid for Dual Degree students will be figured at Brown rates for the duration of the program. Students enrolled in the program must pay no fewer than ten semesters of Brown tuition.

Student Fees

Students enrolled in the BRDD program are automatically enrolled in Brown’s Student Health Insurance Program. Fully enrolled at both Brown and RISD, BRDD students pay semesterly fees pertaining to student activities, resources, and technology for both Brown and RISD.

Students Leaving the Program

In the rare case of a student leaving the Dual Degree program and continuing at Brown or RISD, they will pay the tuition and fees - and receive the financial aid offer - for that institution.

Questions

All inquiries about tuition, fees, and financial aid for BRDD should be directed to the relevant office at Brown.

Financial Aid

Dual Degree applicants who wish to be considered for financial aid must submit application materials to both Brown and RISD. Domestic students should list both schools on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Given that applicants will be initially admitted through procedures in place at both institutions, financial aid eligibility will be determined independently by each institution.

  • Applicants who matriculate to the BRDD program receive Brown’s financial aid package.
  • Applicants who matriculate only to Brown will also receive Brown’s financial aid package.
  • Applicants who matriculate only to RISD will receive RISD’s financial aid package.

Renewable for Five Years

Financial aid for BRDD students is renewable for all five years of the program, assuming eligibility continues. Students must reapply each year for financial aid.

Need-Based Financial Aid

Like all members of the Ivy League, Brown does not offer aid based on academic achievement, athletic ability, or any other form of merit or talent. All first-year applicants will be admitted to Brown on a need-blind basis and the University will meet 100% of their demonstrated financial need.

Through an initiative called The Brown Promise, packaged loans are eliminated from all of Brown's undergraduate financial aid offers.
