Brown | RISD Dual Degree Program

Orientations

Orientation programs help BRDD students acclimate to life at Brown and RISD as they start their first and second years.

Once admitted to the dual degree program, students receive communications from the Brown|RISD Dual Degree (BRDD) program, Brown, and RISD.

Incoming Student Orientation

Incoming BRDD students arrive in Providence and move into their RISD dorm in late August.

They may be invited or required to attend a pre-orientation program on either campus (for example, RISD’s First-Generation College pre-orientation program or one of Brown’s pre-orientation programs). F-1 and J-1 visa holders attend Brown’s International Orientation prior to their first year.

Following any pre-orientation programs, new BRDD students participate in a brief BRDD-specific orientation program and, finally, RISD new student orientation.

Second Year Orientation

Because it is their first time living on Brown’s campus, BRDD students entering their second year in the BRDD Program are invited - though not required - to participate in programming from Brown’s New Student Orientation and Transfer and Resumed Undergraduate Education Orientations.

In addition, students entering their second year in the BRDD program are eligible to participate in Brown’s Pre-Orientation programs and in Brown Outdoor Leadership Training (BOLT).
